TOEFL

            TOEFL is Test of English as a Foreign Languange. A test student can take if their first languange is not English, that is shows good their English. TOEFL there are two kinds, the name is International TOEFL and the Institutional TOEFL. International TOEFL organized by the Office of the TOEFL in the United States, by appointing specialized agencies scattered throughout of the world. The TOEFL test measures English language proficiency in reading, listening and writing and is offer on computer in more regions of the world. In areas access to computer-based testing is limited, a paper and pencil version the test administered. TOEFL test is trade mark registered of Education Testing Service (ETS) and is administered worldwide. The test first administered in 1964 and since been taken by more than 23 million students. The test originally developed at Center of Applied Linguistics under the direction of Stanford University applied linguistics professor Dr. Charles Ferguson Governing policies the TOEFL program are formulated with advice 16 member board.
             Most people who take the TOEFL test planning to study at colleges and universities instruction is in English. In addition, many government agencias, scholarship programs, and licensing or certification agencies use TOEFL scores to evaluate English proficiency. TOEFL test consists of reading, listening and writing, this test is 3 hours long and all the tests can be taken on the same day. Because of the time provided very short while because so many and the trap, then the necessary strategies to do it. 1.  Listening (30 - 40 minutes)
Listening Section consists of 3 parts. 30 questions about the brief conversation, 8   questions about longer conversations, and last section 12 questions about lectures or    talks. The final part asks 12 questions about lectures or talks.
2. Reading Comprehension (55 minutes)
    Reading Comprehension section has 50 questions about reading.
3. Writing (30 minutes)
     The Writing section is one essay with 250-300 words in average.
4. Grammatical structure (25 minutes)
Students can take the test as many times as they wish.

              TOEFL preparation consisted of Part of speech is the kinds of words used in formulating a sentence in English like nouns (man, music, etc), verbs (be, have, do, work, etc) , adjectives (a, the, etc), adverbs (well, often, etc), pronouns (you, ours, etc), prepositions (at, in, on, etc), conjunctions (and, though, but), and interjections (dear, er, etc). You must pass TOEFL is order to be consider for graduate studies. To pass means to receive the score at least 237 (550 old units)  is quite bad, but acceptable some universities. The score above 250 (600) will suffice for all universities if you are apply for technical special (and usually will suffice for all other specialties too). The maximum possible score is 300 (667). Usually one can expect to improve score by 50 -100 after 3 - 5 month everyday to work  2 - 4 hours a day.
               And now TOEFL is very important because this test is often used as one of the requirements for the work. Once the importance of this test many educational institutions english course or the United States in Indonesia offers such test with a certificate as a attachment in applying for job as a candidate for civil servants or private employess. In short, the TOEFL is focused to evaluate the ability of people to communicate effectively English speaking countries, to perform its basic purposes, whether studying or working. TOEFL measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand North American English used in college and university settings.
